"The Path to Digital Broadcasting"
The digitalization of broadcasting, together with the divers range of delivery platforms are the key drivers leading the rapid changes in the broadcasting and multimedia environment.
These changes involve many uncertainties, but the industry accepts that the transition into the digital environment is an essential move for their long term development and survival.
In the Asia-Pacific region countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia and Singapore lead the world with the introduction of digital television services and now many other countries are making the move to digital.
For Indonesia the decision of the terrestrial transmission standard has been made and industry can now proceed with the introduction of digital TV services. However the industry faces many other developments within the digital broadcast environment such as HDTV, mobile TV and IPTV. The decisions around such enhanced technology applications have to be considered carefully.
Radio is also undergoing a similar revolutionary change through digitalisation.
The Broadcast and Multimedia Show is pleased to introduce its first conference programme into this event for 2008, targeted to the Indonesian broadcast industry. The theme for the conference "The Path to Digital Broadcasting" aims to update broadcasters on the latest developments in digital broadcasting from the technical, regulatory, content and business planning perspectives.
Topics for the Conference will include local, regional and international experience in this transition and focus on many aspects of digital TV and radio from the various systems standards, transmission and production issues, content asset management and the business models and strategies in digitalization
including mobile TV, IPTV; and radio.
As well as focussing on the DVB standard the 4 days Conference will help those countries which are yet to decide how to proceed with selecting a terrestrial digital transmission standard which is appropriate to their own country. The conference aims to provide information on technical implementation experiences to avoid the pitfalls in setting up the new digitally based services. It will also serve as a focal point for the exchange of ideas and concepts on new business models and strategies in the convergence era of the
mobile TV world, IPTV and HDTV, as well as radio broadcasting.
Leading media practitioners, policy makers, transmission and production engineers, system implementation and spectrum experts, content creators, business strategists and multimedia specialists from across the broadcast, electronic and consumer manufacturers industries will be invited to Jakarta to share and discuss their experiences along the path to digitalisation.
